Meet, Greet, & Karaoke

Join us for an enjoyable evening to engage with fellow country men and women, raise your glasses, while reminiscing about our upbringing and experiences growing up in Liberia and also to sing our favorite Liberian Songs. All happening on July 24th from 6pm to 10pm (not too late into the night).

Our Story

Liberians in Houston bring the community together with rich culture, lively music, and joyous family-friendly events that celebrate our heritage while fostering connections among all Liberians living in and around Houston. The Independence Day Celebrations, taking place from Friday, July 24th through Sunday, July 26th, not only highlight traditional customs and vibrant art forms but also create lasting memories filled with laughter, unity, and a sense of belonging. This encourages everyone to get involved in paving the way for a new chapter for the Liberian community in Houston.

The weekend commences with a Meet, Greet, and Karaoke networking event, offering attendees a welcoming environment to forge connections and strengthen community bonds over refreshments. The festivities continue with The Grand Ball, an elegant evening dedicated to honoring the vibrant history of Liberia, celebrating our shared heritage, and commemorating the spirit of freedom. Finally, on the last day, the park-day event will serve as an excellent opportunity for individuals and families to engage with one another, share stories, and partake in activities that reinforce our cultural identity. The festive atmosphere is undeniable, with delicious food stalls offering a variety of traditional Liberian dishes that tantalize the taste buds. In addition to the music and food, there are dance performances and workshops designed to teach participants about the rich traditions and history of Liberia.

There are dedicated Liberians from both the United Liberian Association of Houston (ULAH) and the Liberian Association of Greater Houston (LAGH) working behind the scenes to make this a memorable and historic weekend that will usher in a new chapter for Liberians in Houston. Their unwavering commitment and hard work ensure that each event is not just an occasion but a heartfelt gathering of community spirit. Each member plays a crucial role, whether it's planning the itinerary, setting up the venue, or inviting guests to share in this momentous celebration of heritage.
